D的最大問題是Greg沒有謂語，who引導(dǎo)的是一個(gè)定語從句，這樣一來，整個(gè)大句子沒有主句。如果把who以及前面的逗號(hào)去掉，則D為最佳選項(xiàng)。

When the Columbia space shuttle disintegrated upon re-entry, the American people experienced a great tragedy led to a complete investigation of the space program. Deficiencies in the chain of command and the entire culture of NASA were exposed. As a result of the Columbia tragedy, NASA will re-examine its practices and change their ways so something like this doesn't happen again. Surely, this is a valuable thing to come from a horrible failure.

上句中，compared with后面的名詞是“Tom”，為“人”，而句子中的主語是“the works of Allen”，為“物”，兩者是不能做比較的。故應(yīng)把Tom改為those of Tom。

還有就是最后一句（Hopefully, they will change it）顯得很勉強(qiáng)，讓人感覺作者是無話可說但又想拉長(zhǎng)文章篇幅的一個(gè)無奈之舉，另外使文章的語氣有點(diǎn)玩世不恭。

在開始段，作者提出自己的觀點(diǎn)，如果只有talent而沒有motivation，要想獲得成功是不可能的（To truly succeed, you need to have at least as much motivation as talent, because if you don't posses the desire to do something, your talent may simply wither from neglect）。接著，作者提到將要講到的兩個(gè)例子，一個(gè)是美國(guó)歌手Jewel的故事，一個(gè)是他妹妹的故事。作者在提到自己的觀點(diǎn)前，也講了一些“廢話”來豐富第一段的內(nèi)容。
